Skulls Beneath

This photo was taken on a trip to Point Defiance. I was at the beach when I saw this piling. It caught my attention because there was a hole in it with a bunch of barnacles that looked like little skulls. I find the subject intriguing because it is sort of odd and creepy. I can find symbolism and a messagethough depressing--in this photograph. Even on a bright, sunny day at the beach, there may be something dark looming beneath. I like this photo because there is more to it than may appear at first.
